Let's try this again
Do you remember when Mark Mulder won the Cy Young?
Joe Morgan does.
Tim(Illinois): Should the Cardinals be concerened about Mulder's lack of velocity? He was only hitting 88 MPH. Can he turn it around?
Joe Morgan: (11:11 AM ET ) I believe that after watching last year and so far this year, it's definitely a different Mulder than the one who won the Cy Young. You have to be concerned, but I still think it's too early to panic.
OF Course it's a different Mulder, he never won it.
HEre is another one.
Rene (Glendale,CA): Hey Joe, I'm a big A's fan..and it looks like as years pass by the window gets smaller and smaller for our chances in winning it all...I wanna know is this management's fault the payroll is so low?? that they don't address bullpen, certain hitters, consistant starters,etc...or is this our fault??(being not enough fans at the game)..thanks for your opinion
Joe Morgan: (11:37 AM ET ) I guess it's all of the above, Rene. I think that they had the makings of a great team when they had Zito, Mulder, Hudson, Tejada and Giambi. But when you let two MVPs go and two of the best pitchers in the league go, you're not really thinking about winning anymore.

Nit-picky
We all get brain farts.
It's no big deal.
Morgan is not stupid, btw. He has more baseball knowledge in his left pinky, based on 40+ years of experience, than all of us have put together. When it comes to understanding sabermetrics though, he is a bit blind. It's tough for an old dog to learn new tricks sometimes.

Speaking of brain farts
The second part, in which he discusses the loss of MVPs and Hudson and Mulder, goes to my point about him not understanding sabermetrics.

One last post on this--for now.
If you want his insight on teams that are more sabermetrically oriented, then forget it, he's old-school all the way. I still doubt that he has bothered to read "Moneyball."
